Mango Tiramisu with Passion Fruit (No-Bake Summer Dessert)

    Jump to Recipe·Print Recipe
Delicious mango tiramisu topped with passion fruit, perfect for summer desserts.
Delicious mango tiramisu with fresh mango slices and creamy layers, perfect for a no-bake summer dessert.

This mango tiramisu with passion fruit is a light, no-bake summer dessert made with creamy mascarpone, fresh mango, and delicate layers of soaked ladyfingers. It's a fresh, fruity twist on the classic Italian dessert that's perfect for warm-weather entertaining

Detailed close-up of mango tiramisu with a spoonful held above the plate, showing smooth mascarpone cream and mango layers with a glossy passion fruit topping and seeds, set against a soft blue background.

We love making this mango tiramisu with passion fruit during the warmer months when mangoes are at their sweetest and most juicy. In fact, this was the very first recipe Grant and I made when we got back to South Africa after spending Christmas with family in the UK - swapping cold winter days for sunshine and fresh summer produce.

It's one of those desserts that feels a little bit special but is surprisingly simple to put together - no baking required.

This version is inspired by a classic Italian tiramisu, but instead of coffee and cocoa, we layer fresh mango, a light mascarpone cream, and ladyfingers soaked in orange juice. Just before serving, we finish it with a drizzle of our passion fruit sauce, which adds a bright, tangy contrast that really brings the whole dessert to life.

If you're looking for a lighter, fruit-forward dessert for summer, this is one of our favorite ways to switch things up from the traditional version. You can also check out our authentic tiramisu recipe if you're after the classic coffee-based dessert.

    What Is Mascarpone?

Mascarpone is a soft Italian cream cheese made from cream rather than milk, which gives it a richer, smoother texture compared to regular cream cheese.

It's a key ingredient in traditional tiramisu and works beautifully here, creating that signature silky, melt-in-your-mouth cream layer that pairs perfectly with the fresh mango in this recipe.

Seasonality: When Are Mangoes in Season?

Mangoes are typically in season from late spring through summer, making them perfect for warm-weather desserts like this mango tiramisu.

During peak season, mangoes are especially sweet, juicy, and full of flavor, which really makes this dessert shine. It's a great recipe to keep on hand for summer gatherings, BBQs, or relaxed weekend meals.

    How to Make Mango Tiramisu

    Prepare the Mascarpone Cream

Top view of a mixing bowl with heavy cream, mascarpone, powdered sugar, and vanilla bean paste added together, ready to be whipped into a smooth cream mixture on a light blue background.
Top view of a mixing bowl filled with freshly whipped mascarpone cream, smooth and thick with soft peaks, ready for layering in the tiramisu.
    • Add the heavy cream, mascarpone, egg yolks, powdered sugar, and vanilla bean paste to a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment.

Chef's Tip: Make sure your mascarpone is at room temperature before mixing. This helps prevent lumps and gives you a smooth, silky cream.

    • Whisk on high speed until thick, smooth, and holding soft-to-medium peaks.
    • Cover and refrigerate while preparing the remaining ingredients.

    Prepare the Mango

Top view of freshly sliced mango arranged in a bowl and a small container, showing thin, even slices prepared for layering in the dessert.
    • Peel the mangos and slice the mango flesh into thin slices.

Chef's Tip: Choose ripe but firm mangoes. Overripe mango can become too soft and watery, which can affect the texture of the layers.

    • Divide the mango into two portions, setting aside half of the slices in an airtight container in the fridge to use for garnish.

    Prepare the Soaking Liquid

    • n a shallow bowl, combine the orange juice and Grand Marnier (if using)

    Assemble the Tiramisu

    • Give half the biscuits a quick dip into the orange mixture (do not soak them otherwise they will fall apart).
    • Arrange them in a single layer in a 9 × 13-inch (20 × 30 cm) serving dish.
    • Spread half of the mascarpone cream evenly over the biscuits, then top with half of the mango slices. Add a second layer of dipped savoiardi biscuits, followed by the remaining mascarpone cream, smoothing the top.
    • Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until fully set.

Chef's Note: Depending on how deep your serving dish is, you may be able to create three thinner layers instead of two. Simply divide the mascarpone cream and mango accordingly.

    Chill

    • For best results, chill the tiramisu for 4-6 hours or overnight to allow the layers to set and the flavors to fully develop.

    Serve

Just before serving, arrange the reserved mango slices over the top, spoon the passion fruit sauce over the tiramisu or drizzle it onto individual portions, then finish with fresh mint sprigs.

    Flavor Variations, Substitutions and Add-Ins

This mango tiramisu is easy to adapt depending on what you have on hand or the flavors you feel like.

    • Berrymisu - Swap mango for strawberries or mixed berries
    • Lemon tiramisu - Add lemon zest and a splash of limoncello
    • Egg-free version - Skip the egg yolks and whip just the cream and mascarpone
    • Alcohol-free version - Replace Grand Marnier with extra orange juice
    • Mango puree - Add a layer of mango puree or coulis for a more intense fruit flavor

    Storage Instructions

Fridge: Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Make Ahead: Best made at least 4-6 hours in advance, or overnight for the best texture.

Freezer: You can freeze the tiramisu without the fresh mango topping for up to 1 month. Thaw overnight in the fridge and add fresh mango and passion fruit sauce before serving. (Please note we have never personally tried this, to be honest the tiramisu just don't last that long)

Q : What can I use instead of mascarpone?

A : Cream cheese can be used as a substitute, though the flavor will be slightly tangier and more like no bake cheesecake.
