Description
This watermelon smoothie is one of the easiest ways to turn sweet summer watermelon into a cold, refreshing drink. It’s made with frozen watermelon, strawberries, banana, and a splash of lemon or lime juice for a smoothie that’s fruity, bright, and naturally icy.
Ingredients
300 g (4 cups) seedless watermelon, cut into cubes and frozen
1 tbsp (15 ml) lemon juice or lime juice
1 banana, sliced
150 g (1 1/2 cup) frozen strawberries
1-2 tsp honey or maple syrup, to taste (optional)
Instructions
Cut the watermelon into cubes and freeze them in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet for at least 4 hours or overnight.
Chef’s Tip: Freezing the watermelon in a single layer helps prevent large clumps and makes blending much easier later.
Add the lemon or lime juice first, followed by the banana. Top with the frozen strawberries and watermelon cubes.
Chef’s Tip: Layering ingredients helps the blender work more efficiently. Start with liquids, then softer ingredients, and finish with frozen fruit.
Begin blending on low speed, then gradually increase to high speed until smooth and creamy.
If the smoothie is too thick, add a small splash of water to help it blend.
Taste the smoothie and add honey or maple syrup if desired. Blend briefly again to combine.
Pour the smoothie into glasses and serve immediately.
Chef’s Tip: Frozen watermelon gives the smoothie a naturally icy texture without needing extra ice.
