Ingredients
1 cup bulgur wheat (medium or coarse)
2 cups water or vegetable broth
1/2 tsp salt (optional)
Instructions
1. Rinse the bulgur wheat: Rinse the bulgur under cold water to remove excess starch.
2. Boil the water: In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water or broth to a boil. Stir in the bulgur wheat and salt.
3. Simmer: Reduce the heat to low, partly cover the saucepan with a lid, and simmer for 12-15 minutes or until the liquid is absorbed.
4. Fluff and serve: Remove from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve.
Notes
Fridge: Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
Freezer: Portion and freeze in airtight containers or freezer bags for up to 3 months. Remember to label and date your portions, you will thank yourself later, trust me! 😀
Reheat: Add a splash of water and warm in a saucepan on the stove or microwave.
