Description

This easy granola recipe is a simple mix-and-match formula made with rolled oats, your choice of nuts and seeds, and natural sweeteners. Learn how to make granola at home that’s perfectly crunchy, customizable, and full of flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

1/2 cup (120 ml) honey or maple syrup

1/3 cup (80 ml) oil, melted butter, or nut/seed butter

3 cups (270 g) old-fashioned rolled oats

2 cups (250 g) mixed nuts and seeds, (roughly chop nuts)

Good pinch of salt
1 cup (150 g) dried fruit, (roughly chop larger dried fruit)

Optional Add-Ins:

1 tsp vanilla extract (add to wet ingredients if using)

1/2-1 teaspoon cinnamon or dessert spice (add to dry ingredients if using)

1/4 cup (40 g) mini chocolate chips (add to cooled granola if using)

Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat the oven to 160°C (325°F). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Mix Wet Ingredients
In a small saucepan over low heat, gently warm the honey (or maple syrup) with the oil or butter until smooth.

3. Combine Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, mix together oats, chopped nuts, seeds, salt, (and any spices if using).

4. Combine Wet and Dry
Pour the warm honey mixture over the oats. Stir well until everything is evenly coated.

5. Bake
Spread mixture evenly on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 25–30 minutes, stirring once halfway, until golden brown.

Chef’s Tip: Depending on the size of your oven and baking sheet, you may need to use two trays or bake in batches. Spreading the granola in a thin, even layer helps it crisp up nicely.

6. Cool and Add Fruit
Remove from the oven and let cool completely. Stir in dried fruit (and chocolate chips if using).

7. Enjoy

Serve with milk or yogurt and fresh fruit.
Keep in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks.
